Bounce
Back Factor
'Bounce Back' - measures how
good you are at mentally bouncing back from setbacks and mistakes.
Mental toughness depends on your ability to quickly leave your mistakes and
failures behind you.
Hanging onto your mistakes will
get you into big trouble performance-wise. Competitors who dwell on their
mistakes, while the competition continues, end up making more mistakes.
World
Class Winners score between 112 and 120
Pressure Tolerance Factor
Without the ability to stay
calm when under pressure, competitors will always under-achieve. Peak
performance demands that you are relaxed once the competition begins.
A little nervousness (‘good nervousness’) is critical for getting
‘up’ for the competition and performing at your best.
However too much nerves (‘bad nervousness’) will tighten your
physical and mental 'muscles' and send your performance down the tubes.
World
Class Winners score between 114 and 120
Concentration Factor
Your ability to focus on what's
important and block out everything else is one of the primary keys to
performance excellence. Poor concentration is the major reason why competitors -
and teams - get stuck in performance slumps. Getting psyched-out or intimidated
is a direct result of concentrating on the wrong things.
World Class Winners
score between 117 and 120
Confidence
Factor
One characteristic of the
mentally tough competitor is a confidence level that seems to be unshaken by
setbacks and failures. Under the pressure of competition, low confidence will
neutralise natural ability, hard work and talent. Similarly, high confidence
will enhance a competitor’s training and God-given talents, lifting their
performance to the next level.
World Class Winners
score between 116 and 120
Motivation
Factor
Motivation is the fuel that
will drive you to a successful completion and the accomplishment of your goals.
Without adequate motivation people get stuck having ‘permanent
potential’. Without motivation
you won't put in the work necessary to become a winner. Your motivation also
helps you to pick yourself up after a setback and keep going.
World Class Winners
score between 112 and 120

Here
is more information about your scores and some advice that may
help you stay a world class winner or become one!
Very
High and High Range Scores
Scores in the
Very High and High ranges indicate a special strength for that
factor. Congratulations if you score in this range. But
don't rest on your laurels. Complacency and coasting will
whittle away your strength. Remember, it's a dog-eat-dog
world. There's someone just behind you who is also striving to
win!
Middle Range Scores
Surprise,
surprise - scores in the middle range indicate average strength for
that factor. If you are happy being average -
fine - that's your right. If you are not happy, it's an
indication that you need some 'Behaviour Modification'! That's
not so serious as it sounds - it simply means that if you want to
improve your competitive performance you've got to acquire and
develop new skills, work harder and think carefully about changing
some of your attitudes. It won't be easy, but if your score is
in this range, the chances are, you will succeed.
Low
and Very Low Range scores
Low scores
for any factor highlight problem areas. These 'mental
weaknesses' could well be the cause of poor performance. You
may well be devoting enough time and energy to your work, but what about your mental training and development?
Scores in these ranges indicate a pretty high need for some serious
'Behaviour Modification'. You are unlikely to reach your peak
competitive performance unless you acquire new skills, activity
patterns and think very carefully about changing some of your
attitudes. It won't be easy. It will be like 'learning to
write with the other hand'. It will be hard work but it is
possible. All you need is commitment, determination and belief
in yourself ... Mental Toughness!
